One of the four Republican candidates running against incumbent democratic congressman Ron Kind announce this week he dropping out of the race and throwing his support behind one of the other candidates. Anderson, 28, is a native of Barron and served in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. He joined Johnson’s staff in 2012.

The remaining candidates include Republican Ken Van Doren, a retired building contractor and former Mauston City Council member, and civil rights attorney Karen Mueller of Chippewa Falls.

Kind has held the 3rd congressional seat since 1997.
