Beagle Crash

A 45-year -old Stoddard woman was killed in a head on traffic crash on State Hwy 35 near Stoddard on Monday night. According to Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears the crash happened at approximately 8:00 PM in the Town of Bergen, north of Stoddard.

Eunice H. Beagle,45, of Stoddard  was operating a mini-van southbound on State Highway 35 just north of Windwalker Trail. While attempting to pass another vehicle, she collided head-on with a northbound vehicle operated by Dorothy J. Roth, 68, of LaCrosse.

The Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department extricated both drivers from their vehicles, and both were transported to Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse. Beagle later died as a result of her injuries. Roth was treated for multiple injuries.

Both vehicles had air bag deployments, and both drivers were wearing safety belts.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Town of Shelby Police Department, Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department and EMS, Tri-State Ambulance, and Wisconsin State Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office. This crash marks the first traffic fatality in Vernon County this year.
