TRENTON, N.J. (AP) – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is planning to take questions from reporters at his first news conference in more than two months.

His availability Friday afternoon comes a day after a lawyer hired by his office issued a report clearing him of any wrongdoing in lane closures near the George Washington Bridge last year.

Federal prosecutors and a state legislative committee are still looking into what happened.

Christie has not fielded questions from the press corps that normally covers him since Jan. 9, when he held a two-hour news conference about the bridge scandal.

Since then, he has taken questions from children during school visits, sports broadcasters on radio interviews, citizens during town hall meetings and radio call-in shows, and a few journalists in one-on-one interviews.
