CHICAGO (AP) – A woman who was on a commuter train that derailed at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport overnight says she heard a “boom” — and then got off the train to find that it was “all the way up the escalator.” She tells the Chicago Sun-Times there was “a lot of panic.”
Officials say 32 people who were on board the train were injured when it plowed across a platform and scaled an escalator at the underground station. None of the injuries is described as life-threatening.
Chicago Transit Authority officials say they’ll use torches to cut the train apart. They say the station could be closed until tomorrow.
