Arnold Everson, 88, of Rockland,WI, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse, WI. He was born September 14, 1923, to Oscar and Olga (Erickson) Everson in the town of Leon, Monroe County,WI. Arnold was baptized and confirmed in the Fish CreekLutheran Church, where he was a life long member. Over the years he was very active in his church, holding several offices. He was united in marriage to Gladys Wettstein July 12, 1944.
Arnold farmed all of his life on the family farm on Fish Creek Ridge, until he retired in 1993. He was happy the farm was in the family, so he could continue his love of farming and cattle. After retirement he and Gladys were able to travel quite extensively. He loved spending time with his family and friends. It gave him great joy to attend all of the family gatherings with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Arnold will be greatly missed and remembered as a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys; a daughter, Darlene (James) Pfaff of Rockland, WI; a son
Richard (Carrol) Everson of White Bear Lake, MN; six grandchildren: Eric (Sherry) Pfaff, neil (Lisa) Pfaff, Brian (Heather) Everson, Matthew Everson, Jennifer (Randy) Engelmayer, Heather (Joseph) Springer; great grandchildren: Boden Pfaff, Ethan and Joel Pfaff, Isabelle, Malin and James Everson, Rayna, Anna and Mina Engelmayer, Alyssa and Anthony Springer; a sister, Lilah Hagen; sisters-in-law, Marie Wettstein and Rosie Stalsberg; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Olga; two sisters, Ethel Bakken and Florence Olson.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Fish Creek Lutheran Church, rural Rockland. Pastor John Stennes-Spidahl will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI. Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family has requested that memorials be given inArnold’s memory to Fish Creek Lutheran Church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
