31 year-old Readstown man killed in snowmobile crash

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources a fatal snowmobile accident occurred Thursday evening March 6, 2014 at approximately 8:36 PM on a public snowmobile trail near Weister Creek Road and County Road P in the Town of Stark.

Joshua A. McCauley, age 31 of Readstown, was traveling northbound on a snowmobile trail near Highway P when he lost control of his snowmobile and struck a tree. McCauley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash. McCauley was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

Assisting the Department of Natural Resources at the scene were the LaFarge Ambulance, LaFarge Fire Department, the Viola Fire Department along with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and Med-Link Air.

The accident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
