On March 4th the Monroe County Sheriff’s office responded to a report of a gas leak in the township of Sparta. When deputies arrived they determined a possible meth lab was the issue, and attained a search warrant for the property.
The Monroe County Detective Bureau, along with the State of Wisconsin DCI executed the search warrant. Items were collected as a result of the search warrant that are related in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. An adult male is in custody in connection with the matter.
The incident remains under investigation. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office and DCI at the scene were the Sparta Area Ambulance Service and the Sparta Area Fire District. The State of Wisconsin DCI made arrangements for a government contracted hazard material team to collect the hazardous materials that were collected during the search warrant.
