LA CROSSE — (AP) Convenience store operator Kwik Trip has become the latest company to try to make health care more convenient for employees, opening a clinic at its La Crosse headquarters.

The clinic will serve about 3,000 Kwik Trip employees and their families in the La Crosse area and provide online services for them and 8,000 other workers, company benefits manager Mila Spencer told La Crosse Tribune.

“Basically, any co-worker can use the health center,” Spencer said. “If they’re here for training or just passing through, they can use it. The online resources were really important for us, too.”

Kwik Trip has 452 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. The clinic is operated by Marathon Health For Life, a national worksite health care company.

Randy Miritello, of Onalaska, has used the clinic three times since it opened Dec. 4. He went once for a hoarse throat, once for a health assessment and again Tuesday for lab work.

“I like that you can come over during your lunch hour,” Miritello said. “This is one of the best benefits that’s come down the pipe from Kwik Trip in a long time.”

Wellness visits, including for weight loss, stopping smoking and managing illnesses, are free at the clinic, manager Angie Hammond. Other services require insurance co-pays.
