Andersen is coach of the year semifinalist

Wisconsin Badger football coach Gary Andersen has been named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Football Club 2013 Collegiate Coach of the Year.  Andersen is one of 16 coaches honored.

In his first season, Andersen has led the Badgers to an 8-2 record, including 5-1 in the Big Ten, and a No. 19 ranking in the latest BCS standings.

The Badgers rank 5th in the country in scoring defense, giving up just 14.0 points per game, and sixth in the nation in total defense, allowing just 287.8 yards per game.

Offensively, the Badgers are averaging 38.5 points a game (19th in the country) and are on pace to break the school record by averaging 505.8 yards per game.
