Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy will go with Scott Tolzien at quarterback again this week while Aaron Rodgers continues to recover from a broken collarbone.

McCarthy said Monday that Tolzien would start Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field, despite his five interceptions over the last two games.

Tolzien completed 24 of 34 for 339 yards, but also threw three interceptions in the
27-13 loss to the New York Giants.  It was Tolzien’s first NFL start.

Aaron Rodgers has a crack in his left collarbone, an injury that he suffered against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 4.  Rodgers told Larry McCarren on his Packers Live television show that he feels good and is eager to get back on the field.  But Rodgers also said he knows he must take into account the big picture when it comes to returning.

If the collarbone isn’t totally healed, another hit like the one he took from Chicago’s Shea McClellin could break the collarbone which would mean a season ending injury.

McCarthy is looking for Tolzien to take care of the ball more and eliminate the turnovers.  But the Packers head coach likes what he sees from Tolzien in terms of his big play production.

Following Sunday’s home game against the Vikings, the Packers have a quick turn-around.  They’ll face the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit.
