Business owner surprises burglars robbing store twice in three days

Town of Holland, La Crosse County — The owner of Midwest Direct was installing new locks on the front door of his business on Monday after being burglarized on Saturday when he interrupted three juveniles trying to rob him again. Terry Gilbertson left his project to retrieve some tools and when he returned he discovered the robbers in the act.

According to the La Crosse County Sherrif’s Department the suspects fled on foot but Gilbertson was able to watch them enter a wooded area. The area was sealed off and the K-9 Sabiye (Subby) was called in and eventually the juveniles were located and admitted to entering the building. With the assistance if Sabiye a duffle-bag with burglary tools was discovered in the woods.

After questioning the juveniles eventually they admitted to robbing the same business on Jan. 7. Gilbertson said $4,000 in merchandise was taken on that day. They juveniles led authorities to the stolen goods at their residences. The juveniles are being held in the La Crosse County Detention Center.
