Rural Readstown home completely destroyed by fire

Readstown Wis. – Firefighters from three fire departments responded to a house fire at S7599 Deer Point Road in rural Readstown around 11 a.m. Friday. The one-and-half story house was completely engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived.Personnel from Readstown, Viola and Viroqua all responded but they were unable to save the structure. They were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby shed.

According to the fire officials on the scene, someone driving by looking for deer noticed the smoke and called the fire in. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Fire officials did not release the name of the homeowner pending notification but said the property had just recently been purchased. The cause of the fire was still being investigated.
