4 injured in one vehicle Vernon County rollover

Sheriff John B. Spears reports a single vehicle roll over crash that occurred on Thursday evening, November 7, 2013 at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Birch Road in the Town of Sterling.

Derek S. Larson, 17, of Viroqua was negotiating a curve on Birch Road when he lost control on loose gravel went off the road, struck a culvert and overturned. Morgan G. Oldham, 16, of Viroqua and Derek S. Larson were transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital by private vehicle to be treated for minor injuries. Brittany M. Dobitz, 16, of Viroqua, and Amalia T. Maceves, also of Viroqua were transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital by Tri-State Ambulance.

Oldham was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. Larson, Dobitz, and Maceves were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Wheatland First Responders, Wheatland Fire Department, and Tri-State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office
