(Update) Wanted sex offender from Prairie du Chien apprehended

Grant County authorities found the convicted sex offender who cut off his monitoring device and disappeared on Sunday.

Officers went to his home Sunday evening to arrest him for violating his parole when they found his monitoring device on the floor of his home.

Police arrested 46 year old Willard Tyler about 10 miles east of Prairie du Chien  around 8:00 p.m. Monday night.

On Sunday, October 20, 2013 at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Prairie du Chien Police Department attempted a Probation and Parole arrest at 517 East Blackhawk Avenue in the City of Prairie du Chien. The officers did not receive an answer at the door so Probation and Parole was notified and the officers were able to gain access to the residence with the assistance of Probation and Parole.

Once inside the residence officers did not find the subject, but did find his ankle monitoring device cut off and on the floor. Immediately a nationwide alert was sent out electronically through the dispatch center to law enforcement agencies.

The subject Willard D. Tyler, 46, male, white, 5’08”, 180lbs is a registered violent sex offender and was released to Prairie du Chien in 2011. If you see Tyler please call law enforcement immediately.
