A fairly busy day to close out the week in the dairy markets on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange on Friday. Cash cheese barrels slipped a quarter-cent, blocks gained a penny, cash butter was 1.75 cents lower while nonfat dry milk gained a little.

For the week, cash cheese barrels slipped a quarter-cent, blocks gained 5.75 cents, butter lost 6 cents, Grade A nonfat dry milk increased 1.5 cents and Extra Grade added 2 cents. October, November and December Class III contracts increased an average 7 cents per hundredweight.

USDA is rescheduling some report times as they play catch-up after the government shut-down. The Dairy Products Report will be released Monday, the next Cold Storage Report will come out on October 31st and the next Milk Production Report will be November 1st.
