Cashton teen arrested for vandalizing Eagle Scout project in Chaseburg

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Department released a statement yesterday saying they have made an arrest in connection with the vandalism that occurred this past weekend in the Chaseburg Village Park. Arrested was Lewis W. Gameson, 17, of rural Cashton and formal charges of Criminal Damage tChaseburg Vandalismo Property will be sought through the Vernon County District Attorney.

On Sunday morning, September 29, 2013, an employee with the Village of Chaseburg reported extensive damage was done to several of the solar-powered lights that were recently placed along the walking path. The installation of the lights was a Boy Scout Eagle Service Project and paid for by local donations.  According to the Sheriff’s Office the damage appears to have occurred Friday night. The estimate of the monetary damages was not available

Chaseburg Vandalism 2Gameson was released from the Vernon County Detention Center on his own recognizance. He is to return to Vernon County Circuit Court on October 28, 2013 at 8:30 AM.

The Sheriff’s Department says the investigation continues and more arrests may be forthcoming.
