The Green Bay Packers return to the practice field today and start preparations for Sunday’s NFC North Division showdown against the Detroit Lions.

The Lions have lost 19 straight games in Green Bay and 22 straight in Wisconsin.  Many of those games haven’t been very close, but this 2013 Lions team isn’t your average team.

On offense, the Lions big improvement comes at running back where Reggie Bush has joined the mix.  Bush has played a large role in the Lions success this season, gaining yards and scoring touchdowns as a running back and a receiver.

At 3-1, the Lions have looked like a playoff contender in the early going.  The Lions have made more of a commitment to run the ball this season and its paying off.

WR Calvin Johnson has already had big games against the Packers.  Having Bush makes defenses make a choice in their defensive coverage plans.

Defensively, the Lions success starts right up front.  Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley anchor the tackle spots and are off to a terrific start.  Suh’s 28 combined sacks, quarterback hits and hurries rank No. 1 among defensive tackles and No. 2 among all players in the NFL.  Those two are flanked by rookie right end Ziggy Ansah (5th overall pick) and left end Willie Young.

The pressure on the Packers offense starts with this group and based on the first three games, the Packers will be greatly challenged trying to keep QB Aaron Rodgers out of harms way.

The Lions have already ended a 21-game losing streak at Washington against the Redskins and they’d like nothing more than to end their road misery against the Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field.
