Governor Walker visits Stoddard Elementary School

Stoddard, WI – Governor Scott Walker visted Stoddard Elementary School this morning to help kick off his “Read to Lead” initiative. The Governor met with teachers and read to 3rd grade students at the school.

“Read to Lead” is a bipartisan effort aimed at improving the reading skills of children before they reach 4th grade.  A statewide Task Force, co-chaired by State Superintendent Tony Evers, worked on the “Read to Lead” implementation plan which was released earlier this week. The full Read to Lead report can be found at ttp://walker.wi.gov/eadtoleadtaskforcereport.pdf.

Walker was in Stoddard at 10:20 Friday morning but did not annouce he would be making the appearance until about two hours before the event. The Governor will also stop for a similar event in Elmwood, WI at 1:00 on Friday.
