Crawford Co. Sheriff’s Report includes car vs. train crash

On Sept. 15, 2013 The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a train versus car crash located near Highway 35 and Lakeshore Drive in the Prairie du Chien Township. It was determined that Justin J. Mezera, age 16 of Bagley was operurlington Northern Santa Fe Train struck the rear end of Mezera’s vehicle.

The Train was able to stop several hundred yards down from the scene of the crash and then contacted the Sheriff’s Department. Mezera’s vehicle was a total loss and the train suffered minor damage. The Burlington Norther Sana Fe rail line was held up for several hours before the vehicle could be removed.

Mezera was medically cleared by Tri-State Ambulance and released to a responsibly party.

Also assisting the scene was Bridgeport Fire Department, Tri-State Ambulance Service, Bob’s Towing and Repair, BNSF Railway and Inspectors and the Prairie du Chien Police Department.

No Charges are being filed at this time.

Mezera was attempting to leave the private drive and his vehicle became stuck in between the sets of railway tracks. On Sept. 15, 2013 at approximately 7:00 pm the Crawford County Sheriffs department was notified of a one vehicle accident on Rhien Hollow Road. half a mile north of sandy hill rd, in the Wauzeka township.

Isaac r. Tuecke, age 30 of Wauzeka, wi was southbound on Rhien hollow rd. in a 2000 Dodge Dakota, when the front right tire blew out causing the vehicle to pull of the right side of the roadway and into a ditch. the vehicle struck a fence and came to rest in the brush. Tuecke was not injured in the accident.

Mr. Tuecke was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

On Sept. 4, 2013 Crawford County Deputies were conducting foot patrol in the village of Gays Mills, WI. While on patrol deputies made contact with Gary Wickham, 31′ of Soldiers Grove in his vehicle. Wickham was observed smoking from a “Bubbler” smoking device believed to be used to ingest marijuana. After a search of Wickham’s vehicle a bag containing marijuana, glass smoking device with burnt marijuana residue and other paraphernalia was located in the vehicle along with an open bottle of beer.

Wickham was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was warned for false display of license plates, no insurance and open intoxicants.
