La Crosse authorities now say the woman that required a rescue this morning after falling from a trail along Grandad Bluff in La Crosse will be fined $303. City officials say hiking in a restricted area is a violation of city ordinances.
La Crosse — Firefighters have rescued a woman who fell about 40 feet from a bluff in La Crosse.
Police Sgt. Randy Rank told WXOW-TV the woman apparently was hiking in an unauthorized area on Grandad Bluff. The 22-year-old woman called 911 with her cell phone about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
A La Crosse Technical Rescue Team carried the woman off the bluff about two hours later. Fire Capt. Frank Devine said it was one of the more difficult rescues they’ve done on the bluff. Several trees had to be cut down in the process.
