Update: Names released in head on crash near Holmen

La Crosse County authorities have now released the identities of the people involved in that fatal head crash that happened near Holmen last week.

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department said the woman that died is Cheri Fraser, 53, from Holmen.

According to investigators they say they believe Jeanette Bjorge, 57, of Holmen, was traveling on Highway HD when she lost control of her SUV, crossed the grass median and struck Fraser’s vehicle head on.  Fraser was killed on impact.  Bjorge was transported to Gundersen Lutheran will non-life threatening injures.

Wisconsin State Patrol continues to investigate.


Previous story

One person is dead as the result of a head on crash on Hwy 35 near Holmen Friday night.

The La Crosse County Sheriff says it happened on Highway 35 between Highway 53 and Hale Drive in Holmen around 4:30 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Department says an SUV driven by a female lost control, crossed a grass median, and hit a northbound vehicle head on.

The woman driving the north-bound vehicle was killed.

The south-bound driver was taken to Gundersen Health System with non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Department says they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Wisconsin State Patrol along with the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate that accident.
