LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) – A La Crosse man convicted of sexually assaulting his neighbor after allegedly telling her, “It’s your lucky night,” faces up to 28 years in prison.
A La Crosse Tribune report says 22-year-old Jarrett D. Walch is to be sentenced in October. He pleaded guilty last week to second-degree sexual assault.
Prosecutors say Walch broke into his neighbor’s apartment early in the morning of March 9. The criminal complaint quotes him as telling her, “It’s your lucky night. Your door was unlocked.”
The complaint says he sexually assaulted her and squeezed her throat until she was able to reach a can of pepper spray. He allegedly threw her against a wall, punched her and fled.
Walch’s defense attorney, Christopher Van Wagner, did not immediately return a message Monday seeking comment.
