MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A state lawmaker vying for the Democratic nomination for attorney general says he had just over $167,000 in the bank at the end of July.

Jon Richards, a Milwaukee Democrat, is battling Jefferson County District Attorney Susan Happ and Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne for the party’s nomination in the Aug. 12 primary. The winner will face Republican Brad Schimel, the Waukesha County district attorney, in November.

Candidates must file campaign finance reports by midnight Monday detailing their fundraising and spending in July. None of the candidates had filed formal reports as of midday Monday. Richards’ campaign, though, says he had a little more than $167,000 on hand at the end of the filing period on July 28 and had raised nearly $37,000 during the month.
