OAK CREEK, Wis. (AP) – Gov. Scott Walker says he did not get an estimate on how much it would cost to scrap Common Core education standards, but he doesn’t think it will be significant.

Walker was asked Friday about his call on Thursday to the Legislature to do away with the standards next year.

Walker says he’s not worried about the cost and “it’s much better off to have a system done right.”

This year $23 million has already been allocated to implement new tests tied to the standards that schools were set to launch this fall. The nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau said last year that it was difficult to determine how much it would cost to scrap the standards and start all over as Walker is now advocating.
