MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Gov. Scott Walker is defending his television ad that says Democratic challenger Mary Burke made millions off of Trek Bicycles and the company shipped jobs overseas.
Walker said Friday that he is simply stating facts in the ad, which suggests that Trek is employing children to work in its China plant.
Trek president John Burke called the ad false on Thursday and said Walker should take it down. His sister, Mary Burke, is responding with her own ad on Friday.
Burke’s spot says Walker’s spot is “an outrageous attack on a great Wisconsin company.”
The dueling ads over Trek this week mark one of the most spirited exchanges between the candidates in the race so far.
