MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin environmental officials are looking for public input on how to protect the state’s waters.

The Department of Natural Resources is launching its triennial review of water quality standards. The agency wants feedback on how which standards and policies should receive attention first. People can submit input via a survey on the DNR’s website through Aug. 7.

The agency also is planning a public hearing on July 30 in Madison to walk citizens through the review process. People can participate in person or through a webinar.

The DNR will use the survey and internal rankings to prepare a final list of topics. Any changes will ultimately have to go through the DNR’s board, the Legislature and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
