MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Republican Gov. Scott Walker calls the bid by state Rep. Brett Hulsey to win the Democratic nomination for governor “entertaining.”

Walker declined Tuesday to say anything more about the longshot bid Hulsey is mounting to defeat the better-funded and presumptive Democratic nominee Mary Burke.

After calling Hulsey’s candidacy “entertaining,” Walker added, “That’s probably my best comment right there.”

Hulsey has grabbed headlines with a variety of stunts since announcing his candidacy rather than seeking re-election in the state Assembly, including promising to distribute homemade Ku Klux Klan hoods at the Republican state convention.

Hulsey decided against doing that. He was denied a speaking slot at the Democratic Party convention, but attended anyway.

Hulsey has been highly critical of both Burke and Walker. The primary is Aug. 12.
