Mary Jane Ramsett, 80, of Holmen passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Westby to Stanley and Sadie Hollie. She married Lorren Ramsett of Viroqua on Sept. 1, 1951.
Mary was a wonderful homemaker, raising her family in Green Bay, Wis. In her earlier years, she enjoyed dancing and bowling and weekly card games with friends. Mary was an avid Packer fan all her life, living just blocks from Lambeau Field and attending all of their home games. Lorren’s career required them to relocate many times over the years. They lived in California, Washington, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky until ultimately settling in Holmen after retirement in 1996.
Mary will be deeply missed by her husband of 60 years; her four children, Rhonda (Bobby) Way, of Wauwautosa, Wis., Joni (Jon) Robertson of Mission Viejo, Calif., Terry Ramsett, of Algonquin, Ill., and Tom (Lori Fredin) Ramsett of East Troy, Wis.; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Christine) Gonwa, Becky (Brad Sorensen) Gonwa, Christopher Robertson, Lauren Robertson, Annie and Jack Ramsett and her great-grandchildren, Leah and Gavin Gonwa and Kaydin Sorensen. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Arlene Pederson of Onalaska and Evenelle Hansen and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eloise Holm; her brothers-in-law, Blaine Pederson and Gerhard Hansen and her nephew, Craig Hansen.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, Westby. Pastor Julie Wollman officiated with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home before the service.
