Viroqua, WI – Children need a fresh start for each upcoming school year. Vernon County Stuff the Bus provides children from families in need, residing in Vernon County, with necessary school supplies. Each year items are collected by participating organizations and volunteers and distributed directly to Vernon County school children.
“For struggling parents, providing the required school supplies can be a financial hardship,” said Nancy Walters, Vernon County Public Health Nurse. “Vernon County Stuff the Bus helps to ensure that children from families in need living in our communities are prepared for academic success as they begin a new school year,”
This year Walters said they expect 500 children to apply for the program.
And Walters said the program would not be possible without the support of businesses, individuals, and organizations within Vernon County.
“Thank you to those who have provided past support,” said Walters. “It is critical to making this project possible.”
This year, Vernon County Stuff the Bus announced the addition of support from Great Rivers United Way in the form of a 2014 Venture Grant in support of this project.
Walters says if you interested in helping it’s as easy as 1-2-3!
