Monroe County Sheriff Peter Quirin reports a two vehicle crash which resulted in one person being injured.
The Sheriff’s office says the crash took place on Hwy 131 at County Hwy A in the Town of Wilton at 3:30pm on June 22, 2014. A car driven by Mildred M. Jones, 68, of rural Wilton, was west bound on County Hwy A. She stopped for the stop sign at Hwy 131 and proceeded to cross Hwy 131. A pickup truck driven by Walter H. Taylor, 50, was south bound on Hwy 131 when the Jones vehicle began to cross Hwy 131. Taylor, who was pulling a trailer, tried to avoid the Jones vehicle but the two vehicles collided.
Jones, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, had non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Tomah Memorial Hospital by the Wilton Ambulance service. Taylor and his wife Kelly Taylor age 48, were not injured. Preliminary investigation suggests that the heavy rain at the time of the crash was a contributing factor.
Assisting at the scene was the Monroe County 911 Center, Wilton Ambulance Service, Wilton Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
