INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a man has been killed and a child injured in an Indianola crash that ended a high-speed chase.
Clive Police Chief Michael Venema said the chase began in Clive about 2:50 a.m. Friday when an officer tried to pull over a car that then sped away. Venema said the chase exceeded speeds of 110 mph, and a Clive officer ended the pursuit when the Iowa State Patrol took over.
Troopers followed the car into Indianola, where the vehicle ran into an empty police cruiser at a roadblock on Iowa Highway 92.
The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was taken to a hospital. Their names haven’t been released.
